Around 8,000 years ago, the people of Cishan fired flat‑bottomed red earthenware bowls. The flat base meant the bowl no longer needed earth to hold it, or hands to cradle it. It could stand. Steady. Certain. On its own.

NICEDAY keeps the flat base and borrows the silhouette of the traditional sycee—a symbol of good fortune—giving the bowl a more flowing stance—a tribute to the spirit of conviction. For us, conviction rarely comes easy. Van Gogh sold barely a painting in his lifetime, yet he never changed a stroke to please the world. Sartre wrote to the Nobel committee, refusing the prize, believing freedom weighs more than honor.

Conviction, perhaps, is the ground of an independent spirit. As Su Shi wrote, "In the crowd, he leans on no one; alone, he fears nothing." The wise do not lean. They stand.
